The Memory Keepers Daughter

Last night I finished a great book. The Memory Keepers Daughter, it is so amazing and it really makes you think about life. I could read it again. It has been on my reading list for a while and then I forgot about it until I saw it on my mom's book shelf. I picked it up and started reading it that night while Bryan did homework, I was hooked. If you haven't read it and you need a good book to read, read it. You wont regret it. The last 3 books I have read have been amazing. I took a stroll to the used book store today and I picked up 3 new books, today I am starting Mormon America, it looked super interesting and I thought it would be good to write about on my new blog. Follow my other blog at
http://ablogaboutanldsconvert.blogspot.com.
Pass this along and have others follow it. It will be a great blog instead of me just rambling all of the time.
Thanks readers, whoever you are. Keep on reading.

New favorite book

I just finished this book last week.
I don't even know what to say.
It was so amazing.
If you haven't read it, I highly reccommend it.
Warning: it is a big graphic,
but also so beautiful in its own way.
It will seriously change your outlook on life,
I was sad when it was over.
Read it!
you won't regret it.
A dear teacher Mrs. Bean suggested this book while I was in
high school.
I saw it on my moms bookshelf a few weeks ago
and decided I wanted to give it a shot.
I am very glad I did.
Such an amazing story!
After you read it, we'll talk.

Dear Readers,
I love you!
Thank you for always reading.
Comment.
I'd like to know that someone actually reads these instead of going
into cyberspace.

Best Sunday in a Long while

As some of you may know, ever since we got married and moved to Bountiful Bry and I have had some problems with our ward. Well, we started going to a different ward, and we'd hop around to different wards because of people we knew giving a talk in Sacrament, and things. Two months ago I finally met my visiting teachers, every time they tried to schedule before that either I was working, sick, or already had plans. The first time I met with them, I was really nervous as I never had a visiting teacher come over before in my life. When I first met with them they were super nice and they just got to know me.

Well, things in the ward hadn't really gotten better, and we hadn't been to our assigned ward in almost 3 months, we had either slept in and went to a different building, or we had a talk to go to.

A couple weeks ago I hit my year mark of my baptism, and I feel like this year I have not progressed and learned as much as I should have in my first year as a member. We never went to class, we would go to sacrament and then just leave, and with bry working on Sundays mostly, it was easy for me to just sit in sacrament and then come home. I expressed my concern with my visiting teachers on Tuesday when they came over.

Today for the first time in a year I went to releif society and gospel principles. I was so happy, I am so glad that I did it. In relief society I met a lady and her husband is a convert who is not active in the church right now. They were married 2 years ago, and are still not sealed in the temple, she goes to the gospel princple classes so she can teach him more about the gospel at home. I sat next to her in sacrament and she was such a nice lady, it made me so greatful that even though I feel as I haven't progressed much, I am still continuing to attend church every week and take the sacrament.

I am so grateful that we are able to use the tools we have to learn about the church, and I am grateful for the gospel that no matter where you are in life, what trials you're going through, if you're active or not active in the church that the gospel is always there and if you're willing to accept it, it will always be a rock in your life.

thoughts..

Thoughts
One month until Bry goes back to school, not looking forward to it, but I will be a supportive
wife and support him in his schooling. I am very happy he is going to school. i hate not seeing him
during the school year.
I forgot how much I love running, I am running every other day and doing yoga
on the off days, I love it.
I am very happy with the job I am at, I am glad I went back to Kohl's.
I have been getting better at cooking.
I did really good last week when Bry and I took the motorcycles up to the V, it was fun.
Saving money for a house is a lot harder than we thought it would be.
Our goal is to be in a home by next summer.
we can do it.

a long while

wow, I am so sorry that I have not blogged in quite a while. Well, the beginning of June Bry and I took a weekend road trip to Colorado to visit the in-laws. We had so much fun, and we wish we could've stayed longer, we hung out and ate and we also went to a motocross race, like a legit one, with all the top riders. It rained, and they had to post pone the race for like an hour, but it was still super fun.
We have just been working a lot and enjoying our summer, brys bike has been in the shop and he is getting very mad about it because it is taking WAY longer than they said it would. We have been going on a lot of walks around our neighborhood to keep ourselves fit and occupied, I have also started running again, I forgot how much I love running. I have been trying to go for at least a run or a walk every day. I am planning on running a 5k in September, I think i can be ready by then.
For the 4th we went to Davis High and watched their fireworks, it was really fun. Bry and I got talking and we talked about how much we both love Kaysville, and how we'd really love to buy our first home in Kaysville. So...we'll see what happens.
Nothing too exciting has happened. I will blog about our Colorado trip later when I can post all the picture. We've just been living our life and trying to enjoy our summer. Bry will start school again in August. He is finally a Soph. yay!!! It will be another long semester, but the Fall semester has quite a few holidays to break it up, and also it will be easier since I will be working full time.
That's all I have for now. Keep checking back for more updates. :)

Bryan

I have such an amazing husband, he is so patient and kind to me. I wouldn't trade him for anything, we have certainly had our struggles but we always work them out. The greatest piece of advice we've even been given is to "remember why you got married in the first place" when life becomes too much to handle Bryan and I just get away and go ride the bikes or drive around and just be together like we did last summer when we were dating. Dating is so important in a marriage. We have been having a lot of fun this summer, Bry loves his new bike, and I am loving mine, and its fun to have Bry teach me how to ride, he never gets frustrated with me, and he always says how great I do. He is the most patient, kind, loving man I have met and I am so happy he is my best friend.

A lot of changes

A lot has been happening in the Morton home. Brys parents moved to colorado which has been a huge change and something we're still adjusting too. Bry finished his semester and passed his classes, yay!! We have been riding dirt bikes, ALOT. At least twice a week and its SO fun! We finally got me my very own bike! It's so fun! I crashed my first time, but i've done pretty good so far! We both just keeping busy working and enjoying our summer together. We are excited for our vacation in 2 weeks to visit Bruce and Kathy in colorado and we are also going to a motocross race, I am so excited! Hopefully Bry will enter some races soon, he keeps saying that he wants too, we just haven't gotten around too it. We are both really liking our jobs, it's nice to work 40 consistent hours and always have money coming in.
We are hoping to go camping a lot once it gets warmer, and just ride the dirt bikes all the time. Bry is getting really good on his bike, I can't wait to watch him race. We have also been hanging with our friends Sam and Aubrey a lot, and they ride bikes too. We all have a lot of fun together.

Update

Wow! Sorry it has been so long since I have posted. Here are some things that have happened in the last couple of months....
1. I started working back at Kohl's so now I am working 2 jobs, today I have an interview for a full time position at Kohl's. I am crossing my fingers something good becomes of it.
2. Bry and I bought a new car on Saturday, we bought me a 2003 blue Jeep Liberty, we had been looking at cars for a while, and we had driven this Jeep a couple weeks before, and we loved it, and it was still on KSL, we had driven a couple of cars for Bry cuz his clutch was going on and it was going to be a grand to fix it, so we took it to the shop, but Bry was still wanting to sell it in fear of something else breaking we drove an Acura RSX on Thursday that bry liked but he wanted to drive a couple more, so the next day we went and drove a Chevy Cobalt SS, and we were sitting down in the room with the salesman, and they wanted to give us a 5.99 interest rate and us pay 250 a month putting 1500 down!!!! We contemplated and decided that they were ripping us off, the salesman kept going out and talking with someone, and coming back with pretty much the exact same numbers, we finally just got up and left. We headed to the other dealer to buy the Acura that we had driven the day before, when we walked in they were selling it right then. We were both so frustrated. His car was fixed on Saturday so we go and pick up his car in Kaysville and pay the money and we get to Bountiful and the clutch starts making a weird noise. We pull over and we get the car home (it was barely drivable, the clutch was certainly having problems) and we call his dad and his dad said he'd take it in on Monday, because we had tried calling the shop and they were already closed for the weekend. We go inside and we are trying to figure out what to do. We get on KSL and see the Liberty is still on there, we call the place and they still had it, we told the guy on the phone we were coming to buy it, we hurry up to Orem it was 5:00 and this place closed at 6:30, we walk in and start paper work on our new car! I now have a cute new Jeep Liberty, and Brys car is now fixed, and then we still have the Dakota that is all paid off.
3. Bry is almost done with the semester, YAY!! one month left and then it is Summer!! We can't wait for summer, to go camping and ride the motorcycle, Bry is going to get a new motorcycle when we can find one that he wants. This summer will be great, hopefully I can get this job at Kohl's or find a different full time job. We would also like to be in  a condo or a house by the end of this year, but that kind of depends on me having a full time job, if anyone knows of anything, let me know!
I think that is basically all that has happened in the Morton home lately. Keep checking back for more updates

cooking

Thanks for the ever so popular pinterest, I am expanding my cooking horizon. Last night I made banana bread! it was SO yummy and easy.
easy banana bread
mash up 2 bananas and add a yellow cake mix and 2 eggs and choc chips if you wish. then bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
Tonight I am making chicken roll ups.
I will let you know how they turn out!
Tomorrow I am making a taco soup type thing in the crock pot as I have to be to work at 630am. so we'll see if I get time to put it in the crockpot.

Bry is busy at work, and I am busy picking up hours and looking for jobs!
We really wish the sun would shine and it would quit snowing!!

our life

Bry got his job back at Ashley Furniture,  yay!!! He started yesterday, and everything is going really great! I am going to be training in a new area at work tomorrow, pre operative care, it should be fun, and they also want to train me in the operating room, my boss said she can get me 40 hours for 3 months while a girl is on maternity leave, that will help for a while, then hopefully I can pick up hours everywhere else since I'll know all of the areas, I am also going to go back to kohls and work there once a week or something of that sort, that way I have it as a back up!
I am just playing wifey, cleaning and cooking while Bry does homework. Life is really great, it does suck that we don't see eachother as much, cuz Bry gets home at like 830pm, but I make dinner  and we eat together and watch How I Met Your Mother, and Big Bang Theory, we usually go to bed around 11 or 12. We cherish the moments we spend together. As much as it sucks that we don't see eachother as much, we know this won't be forever.
So right now I am just trying to figure out my 2 jobs and I am going back to school when Bry is done, I am thinking of either dental hygiene or master esthetics (beauty and medical) I have a while to decide and I am doing research on both.
Life is going pretty great right now, I really can't complain.

New Year

Bry and I had an awesome holiday season, Christmas was great! We spent Christmas eve with my family, where we go to Sandy to my dads cousins and we have a dinner and sing christmas carols, at first I think Bry thought it was a little weird but by the end he was smiling and laughing! My mom got really drunk and Bry and I were designated drivers, my mom was SO funny and we were all laughing the whole drive home because we put a 311 cd in and my mom was saying the music was horrible and how she hated it. We slept at my parents in my old room and we woke up Christmas morning and opened presents, we had other family show up, we planned on going to church but by the time we looked at the clock it was too late. We went to the in laws and had Christmas dinner and opened presents there, it was 2 Christmases! SO fun!!! We got practical gifts at both houses, I got some scrubs from Bry and my parents, we also got some TV series on DVD, and I got some make up and thing I needed for my hair. At Brys parents I got a cute nativity set, we got some flashlights, an applebees gift card, Bry got a tire inflator (funny story, about 4 days before christmas Bry kept getting a low tire and then he got out of work and it was flat, so he and his dad fixed it but we got the inflator so now he can put air in it himself.

Dec 25, 2011- First Christmas

as you can tell I am super excited!! :)
Our New Years eve was super fun, we hung out with our good friend the Schiffmans, who recently got married in November, we went to their apartment and watched tv and just talked all night. We really enjoy hanging with them, they are a really awesome couple.
Bry and I both got a church calling, Bry will be teaching Sunday School, and I will be helping in the library. I am pretty excited but super nervous. We found out about it yesterday, so they will set us apart next Sunday.
Bry quit his job last week and today he started school up at Weber State, he still doesn't have a job, so we are looking for him one, his old job said he could work there agian back in November when he talked to his boss, so he called his boss and he said he doesn't know if he can now. So Bry is really stressed out, we have been looking on KSL and there just isn't a lot that will work with his school schedule. So, I have been picking up hours as I can at the U of U, and I am also going to go into Kohl's today to fill out paperwork to start working there again, at least until I can find a full time job. I think our plan will work fine, money may be tight for a while; but we'll make it work. I love my life and I am very proud and happy that Bry is going back to school.
First day of school! :)

New Years Resolutions
1. Finish the Book of Mormon this year (read scriptures every night)
2. Find a full time job with benefits
3. Expand my cooking/baking horizon
4. Buy a dirt bike klx110
5. Continue the wonderful relationship I have with my husband

Happy New Year!! :)
